Geography

Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park encompasses five islands off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo: Gaya, Manukan, Sapi, Sulug, and Mamutik. These islands are situated in the South China Sea and are only a short boat ride away from the mainland.


History

Established in 1974, the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park was created to protect and preserve the unique marine and terrestrial environment of the islands and their surrounding waters. The park covers 50 square kilometers, with each island boasting lush vegetation, white sandy beaches, and coral reefs teeming with marine life.
